Poland Program
Lutheran
Social Service of Minnesota works in partnership with more than
35 Lutheran service agencies in 34 states and the Virgin Islands
to provide adoption opportunities for children and families.
This mission of this partnership, called the Lutheran Adoption
Network (LAN), is to provide permanent adoptive homes for
children from all countries in the world.
Adoptive
families working with a LSS of Minnesota have complete access to
the adoption programs, including Poland, of LAN member agencies.
The Children of
Poland
The children available for adoption from Poland are 14
months of age and older at the time of placement, including
infants, toddlers, older children, and occasionally sibling
groups. Both boys and girls are in need of loving homes.
Children with special needs are also available.
The children live in orphanages or
in foster care. Children often have developmental delays. The
health of the children is generally good or conditions are
correctable. Medical information and photos are generally
available. Poverty and the lack of cultural and social support
are among the most common reasons children are placed for
adoption.
Adoption Requirements
- Parents must not be more than
40 years older than adoptive child
- No restriction on number of
children in the home
- No requirement for couples for
length of marriage
- Single women accepted for
children with special needs
- One trip to Poland of 4-5
weeks total, both parents are required to travel to meet the
child and attend court proceedings. One or both parents may
then leave and then return for child. Two trips may be
required.
