Join us for this annual gathering of area families to celebrate adoption, share a delicious potluck meal, and visit with families they have come to know.  Last year’s festivities included beautiful children from around the world swinging at the piñatas, blowing bubbles, climbing and playing on the playground equipment, and some staying to enjoy a refreshing swim.  All families are welcome - whether you are patiently waiting to become adoptive parents or have recently or long ago brought a child(ren) into your family.

If you would like to help with planning or are aware of companies willing to offer door prizes or donations, please contact Vicki.haugen@lssmn.org.  We have had children’s’ toys and books, gift certificates, tickets to zoos, museums, Twins, Redhawks, hotel stays, etc.  Any assistance and fresh new ideas will be appreciated.

Latin Adoption Picnic

Sunday – September 27, 2009 ; 10:00 am4:00 pm

Join other families touched by adoption from Latin American Countries for a day of fun and camaraderie.  Once known as the “Amigos de Colombia” picnic, this annual gathering is hosted by families who have adopted and wish to remain in contact with other families sharing their Latin Heritage.  Picnic (pack your own family basket) with other families and renew the friendships you have made with other adoptive families and meet new ones!  The kids will get in the “swing” of things with the ever fun piñatas (at 1:00 pm ) and can enjoy the playground and open field (bring balls to play with).

The picnic will be held at the beautiful Blackhawk Park which includes a paved trail that starts near the parking lot and continues down to the lake.  There is soft surface trail that continues around the lake, for a total distance of 1.1 miles.  The park also includes wooded areas, a playground, pavilion, canoe launch, and a fishing pier.
